Community Guidelines

Effective date: June 16, 2026

RoomOnlyChat is designed for private, closed communities. These guidelines exist to protect the privacy and safety of all participants — including you.

The Core Commitment

The privacy features of RoomOnlyChat only work when every participant respects the boundaries of the room. You joined this room knowing that other members' contact details are private. That protection is mutual — your information is equally protected.

Using RoomOnlyChat means agreeing to maintain that boundary for everyone else in the room, not just yourself.

Always Permitted

Communicating within the shared room
Using your room-specific alias and avatar
Sharing relevant files, images, and links
Creating and responding to polls and events
Privately reporting content to administrators
Leaving a room at any time, for any reason
Adjusting your alias and privacy settings
Requesting your data or account deletion

Never Permitted

Attempting to identify another member off-platform
Sharing another member's personal data outside the room
Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse
Content that sexualizes or endangers minors
Coordinating harm against any individual or group
Impersonating another person
Spamming, scamming, or phishing
Attempting to circumvent privacy or security features

Privacy Boundaries Inside the Room

The privacy features of RoomOnlyChat protect you from the outside — but they also depend on members not attempting to break those boundaries from the inside.

You may not attempt to identify, locate, or contact another member outside the room using information gathered inside it. The alias system exists precisely because not every member wants to be known outside of this one context.

If someone shares personal information about themselves voluntarily, that is their choice. It does not mean you have permission to share, record, or act on that information outside the room.

Reporting Violations

Use the in-room report feature to flag messages or members to the room administrator. Reports are private — other members will not know you filed one.

For serious violations including illegal content, threats of harm, or platform-level abuse, contact safety@roomonlychat.app. We review all platform-level reports.

False or malicious reports submitted to harm another member are themselves a violation of these guidelines.

Administrator Responsibilities

If you create a room, you are its administrator. You are responsible for setting and enforcing the standards of that room, responding to reports, and ensuring that the room complies with these guidelines and our Terms of Service.

Administrators may not use their access to harvest member data, expose member identities, or use moderation powers to retaliate against members.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in content removal, suspension from a room, or permanent account termination depending on severity.

We aim to apply these guidelines consistently and proportionately. Patterns of behavior are considered alongside individual incidents.

We do not disclose enforcement actions taken against one member to other members.

Sensitive Communities

RoomOnlyChat is used by support groups, care networks, and communities of people in sensitive circumstances. The level of care you would expect in those spaces should guide your behavior in all rooms, even those that appear less sensitive to you.

Changes

We may update these guidelines as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable notice.
